3.6 LB UV Fluorescent Rough (Calcite - Willemite - Franklinite - Zincite) from New Jersey
Rough piece of Franklinite/Calcite/Willemite/Zincite from the world famous zinc mine in Ogdensburg, NJ, "The Sterling Hill Mine". The white is the calcite and it fluoresces various shades from a light peach/orange to a deep red depending on lighting conditions and UV wave lengths. The willemite, often times barely visible until struck with UV light, is tan/brown in color and will fluoresce a lively neon green, even in direct sunlight (with the proper UV light)! The actual franklinite is the gray/black spots peppered throughout the piece and does not fluoresce. The zincite presents itself as the red/orange streaks throughout the piece, also without any fluorescent properties. You will need a 365nm UV light or less to be able to properly view the fluorescence in this piece.
Tested in house with a Convoy C8 365nm long-wave UV Light with filtering lens. The piece in the photos is the piece you will receive.
