Cobble Creek: 1 lb of Amethyst (A+) Rough from Brazil
Each pieces is 1" to 3" on average. Each pound will include anywhere from 8 - 12 pieces. This rough is good for jewelry, crafts, gifts, and or collecting. This is stuff is purple! These pictures were taken under a light box with an iPhone. These are not wet pieces. They're that deep in color.
I love the deep hues that this stuff brings to the table. I could spend most of my day just admiring the color. Did I mention it was purple?
Each pound will be a random pull from our bulk supply.
Amethyst is a violet variety of quartz often used in jewelry.
The name comes from the Koine Greek ἀμέθυστος amethystos from ἀ- a-, "not" and μεθύσκω methysko / μεθύω methyo, "intoxicate", a reference to the belief that the stone protected its owner from drunkenness. The ancient Greeks wore amethyst and carved drinking vessels from it in the belief that it would prevent intoxication.
It is one of several forms of quartz. Amethyst is a semiprecious stone and is the traditional birthstone for February.
